Organised within two days, the rally brought roughly 2,500 bikes and between 5,000 and 6,000 karyakartas onto the roads of Karkala.
Sri Pramod Madhvaraj, then a minister in the state government, took part in the rally held in the constituency.
District and taluk level rural games held at Bajagoli, attended by more than 6,000 people — a day of traditional games played in the monsoon fields.
A notable aspect of the movement in Karkala was that social reform came before political demand — campaigns to end untouchability, to constitute a Representative Assembly giving the public a forum in public affairs, and to expand education.
